Publisher can read your Google Analytics figures and show them inside WordPress, next to the posts they are about. It can also place the tracking tag for you, so you do not need a second plugin.
This step is optional. Skip it if you use something else for traffic, or nothing at all.
What it involves
Three things, all on OwlDraft → Analytics Settings:
- Let us read your Analytics. Copy the service-account address from the settings screen and add it to your GA4 property as a Viewer, under Analytics → Admin → Property access management. It can only read, and only that one property.
- Tell us which property. Paste the Property ID — the number under Admin → Property settings, not the code beginning with
G-. Add the Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX) too if you want Publisher to place the tag; leave it blank if something else already tags the site, or every visit is counted twice. - Check it worked. Click Test connection. Google answers with the number of sessions in the last seven days.
Leave Do not count logged-in editors and administrators on — a small team refreshing its own stories will otherwise bend every figure.
The full walkthrough, with every screen named and what to do when a number looks wrong, is on Connect Google Analytics.
When the numbers appear
Reports show up under OwlDraft → Analytics, and as a dashboard widget. A brand new GA4 property takes a day or so to start reporting properly, so an empty report on day one is normal.
Next: set up your tiers.
