These terms cover buying and using the software sold on owldraft.com. Plain English on purpose. Last updated 13 September 2026.
Who you are dealing with
Owldraft makes and sells the themes and plugins on this site. Payment is handled by Lemon Squeezy, who are the merchant of record for every purchase — your receipt, your invoice and any sales tax come from them.
What you are buying
A licence to run our software on the number of sites your tier allows — one site at $99 a year, ten at $499 a year — and access to updates and support for as long as that licence is current. Staging and local copies of a site you have already licensed do not count against the total.
The software is GPL
Everything we ship is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. Nothing on this page takes away a right the GPL gives you: you may read the code, change it, and run your changed copy. What a licence buys is our updates and our time, not permission.
What a lapsed licence does not do
Software you have already downloaded keeps working after a licence lapses, on the sites you had it on, with the data it already holds. What lapses is access to new versions and to support. There is no kill switch, no phone-home that disables anything, and no hostage-taking of your members.
Money we never touch
If you sell subscriptions with Owldraft Publisher, your readers pay your Stripe account directly. We take no percentage, we are not a party to that transaction, and we have no access to those funds or to your Stripe account. What happens between you, your readers and Stripe is yours — including refunds, chargebacks, tax and the terms you offer them.
Refunds
Thirty days from purchase, for any reason, by writing to us. The full policy is on the refund page.
Support, and its limits
Support covers our software behaving incorrectly, and getting it set up. It does not cover writing custom code for you, debugging another vendor’s plugin, or administering your server — though we will usually tell you what we think is wrong even when it is not ours to fix. Tickets go through the support form and are read by the person who wrote the code.
What we ask of you
Do not resell or redistribute our software as your own product, and do not use our name or branding to suggest we made something we did not. The GPL permits redistribution; passing our work off as yours is a different thing and we would rather you did not.
Liability
The software is provided as is, without warranty. Keep backups — of your database as much as your files. We are not liable for lost data, lost revenue, or anything else that follows from running it. Where a limit of liability is permitted at all, ours is the amount you paid us in the last twelve months.
Changes to these terms
If we change them we will change the date at the top. A change never applies retroactively to a licence you have already bought.
